All Bar One To Stand At Oaklands In 2007
Top sprinting stallion All Bar One (Hennessy-Max's Sister, by Phone Trick) is being syndicated to stand his maiden season at stud in 2007 at Queensland's Toowoomba-based Oaklands Stud. All Bar One (an $85,000 yearling at the 2003 Magic Millions Sale) boasts 9 wins (in Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne, including the Gr2 Sir Byrne Hart Stakes & Listed W.J.Adams Stakes) & 5 placings (including the Gr1 BTC Cup, Gr2 QTC Cup & Gr3 Liverpool City Cup) from 25 starts for $548,750 prize-money. He will join Aucash, Break The Vault, Ferocity, Iglesia, Pure Theatre, Tsuimai & Salt Lake City at the Darling Downs stud & principal Neville Stewart enthused: "All Bar One is a great addition to the stallion ranks at Oaklands. I was very excited about his speed & pedigree. He will definitely suit colonial-bred mares & he is an excellent type, with a keen eye & possesses great strength through his shoulder & hind-quarter. All Bar One meets all the criteria to make a first class sire."
Irish Sale Topper Boosts Pure Theatre
Meanwhile Oaklands Stud principal Neville Stewart is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a foal by his stallion Pure Theatre (Nureyev-A Goodlookin Broad, by Broad Brush) from Bill Benson's US-bred winning mare Nirvana (Green Dancer-Quick Blush, by Blushing Groom). Last week Benson from Emerald Thoroughbreds sold Nirvana's filly foal by NZ Rich Hill Stud's Darley shuttler Bertolini for the Day-4 top price of €130,000 (A$208,000) at the Goffs November Sale in Ireland; Benson previously purchased Nirvana (in-foal to Bertolini) for just €9,600 (A$15,300) at the Tattersalls July Sale. From 5 foals, Nirvana has already produced stakes-winners Royal Honor & II Cadetto (who won a Gr3 race in Italy by 5.5-lengths during October). Exported to Australia, Nirvana is currently in-foal to Pure Theatre (a Gr3-winner & Gr1-placed) who stands at Oaklands for $5,500.
MM Mares Day 4: $38,000 Tipping The Velvet
In the sale ring, Magic Millions as agent paid top price of $38,000 for winning 4YO mare Tipping The Velvet (Fasliyev-Vice Anglais, by Slew O'Gold) during the 1st of 2 non-select sessions to conclude the 5-day Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast. Improving colt Denmarket (Lord Dane-Business Babe, by Bletchingly) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $130,000 Gr2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) for 3YOs at Randwick. Denmarket (ridden by Stathi Katsidis for trainer Gerald Ryan) defeated dead-heating fellow colts Stratum (Redoute's Choice-Bourgeois, by Luskin Star) & De Beers (Quest For Fame-Chimeara, by Danehill). Denmarket now has 3 wins (also including the Gr3 WA Sires' Produce Stakes over 1400m at Belmont Park in Perth on April 9) & 2 placings in 6 starts for $201,600 prize-money.
Snitzel Wins Up & Coming Stakes
Boom Arrowfield Stud stallion Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) added another group success when exciting colt Snitzel (Redoute's Choice-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets) led all-the-way to win the $125,000 Gr3 Up & Coming Stakes (1200m) for 3YO colts & geldings at Randwick. Snitzel (a $260,000 yearling at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) now has 5 wins & 2 placings in 8 starts for $451,150 prize-money.
Salt Lake City Joins Oaklands
In Queensland, Toowoomba-based Oaklands Stud has boosted its stallion roster for this season by acquiring Salt Lake City (Danzig-Good Example, by Crystal Glitters). Salt Lake City (once trained in Ireland by Aiden O'Brien & then in Australia by John Morish & Clarry Conners) becomes the 5th stallion at Oaklands, joining Iglesia, Aucash, Pure Theatre & Tsuimai. Salt Lake City was purchased by leading Hong Kong bloodstock agent Apollo Ng, who said: "Salt Lake City is a beautiful looking animal, superbly bred & he showed enough potential in Ireland to be a Gr1 winner. If he produces yearlings as good looking as himself he will be a huge hit in Australia." Oaklands principal Neville Stewart added: "Standing hoses with his pedigree is almost unheard of in our part of the world. Not only is he a winning son of Danzig (as was Danehill), but he's also out of a stakes-winning mare who has produced a Gr1 winner & has Star Kingdom blood through Noholme & his son Nodouble. Getting Salt Lake City was a dream opportunity which Oaklands could not refuse. Apart from his pedigree, Salt Lake City is a stunning type with plenty of rein, good bone & he is a ball of muscle. It is a crying shame injury prevented him from showing his best in Australia, but that could be a blessing in disguise because he can impart all of his quality to his offspring." Salt Lake City will stand at a fee of $2,750.
