Glenlogan's 2013 Stallion Fees Released

Wednesday, 3rd April 2013

Queensland stud farm Glenlogan Park has announced its fees for its seven stallions with Jon Haseler telling breednet.com.au: "We are obviously exceptionally proud of the results our sires have delivered for all of our clients and, considering how we have structured our prices this season, we are confident that success can continue. Pound for pound, as can be seen by the sire tables, our stallions not only hold their own nationwide but, when their service fees are taken into account, they are delivering above and beyond nearly all others. Results speak volumes. It may sound simple, but it really does come down to that. And breeders can be confident that the Glenlogan Park stallions deliver those results. We have the history to back that up!"  Stud Manager Steve Morley added: "Our fees may not have changed much from last year, however I am sure the profiles of our sires has increased significantly in that time. As can be seen by the impact that Real Saga has already made, year in, year out our stallions lay down the challenge to those who have been presented with significantly greater opportunities and year in, year out they outperform plenty. In setting our fees this season our goal was to present the industry with options of being able to access proven sires at real value fees, and we are confident we have achieved that." The 2013 Glenlogan Park stallion roster is:

  • Red Element - $7,000 plus GST
  • Falvelon - $9,000 plus GST
  • Bradbury's Luck - $11,000 plus GST
  • Jet Spur - $11,000 plus GST
  • Rothesay - $11,000 plus GST
  • Real saga - $16,500 plus GST
  • Show A Heart - $16,500 plus GST

MM QTIS Day-1: $170,000 Charge Forward Colt

Monday, 18th March 2013

On Day-1 of the 2-day Magic Millions QTIS Yearling Sale, Ron Gilbert's Highgrove Stud had the distinction of selling the top lot, a colt by Arrowfield Stud's Charge Forward. Knocked down for $170,000 – a QTIS Sale record – to Gympie-based Valinor Grazing, the colt will remain in Queenslan, to be trained by either Ben Mason or Stewart McKinnon; he is a half-brother to this season's stakes-placed 2YO winner Excitable Boy and his grand-dam is a half-sister to Gr1 performed Scintillation and Shania Dane, both out of high profile producer Subterfuge. Glenlogan Park, who sold the next two top lots had a brilliant day with their sire Real Saga's progeny providing 5 of the top 10 lots by price. The $3,130,500 gross resulted in a $24,081 average and $18,000 median. The clearance rate was 62 percent.

Cox Shares Secret With Southern States

Friday, 15th March 2013

With Sunday the opening day of the 2-day Magic Millions QTIS Yearling Sale, the sales company's managing director Vin Cox wants owners and trainers in the southern States to know about what he calls "Queensland's best kept secret", a sentiment augmented by the exceptional form of its 2YO graduates this season. Following a flood of record entries, the sale was trimmed back to 450 entries, all of which are eligible for the rich $5.85 million Magic Millions race series as well as $8 million in QTIS bonuses. Real Surreal's Magic Millions 2YO Classic victory in January created hot demand for progeny of his Glenlogan Park-based stallion Real Saga, and the Tale Of The Cat sire-son is represented by 37 youngsters at the QTIS Sale.

Ex Glenlogan Park Sire's Final Yearling Crop Sells

Thursday, 20th December 2012

1993 European Champion 3YO colt & former Glenlogan Park shuttler King's Theatre (Sadler's Wells-Regal Beauty, by Princely Native), who died in 2011, has had his final foals sell at auction and they were the highest-priced colts to sell at the Goffs December National Hunt Sale since 2007. The first of those to sell and the overall sale-topper at €55,000 was a colt from Yellowford Farm who was knocked down to Peter Molony. "He's been bought for an undisclosed English client and he will be kept to race," Molony told racingpost.com. "He's a very good sort by a top sire and his brother African Gold, with Nigel Twiston-Davies, has won his last two over hurdles. He looks quite promising." The other son of King's Theatre to capture the imagination was a €52,000 colt from Tinnakill House.

Luckygray Wins Gr1 Railway Stakes

Monday, 21st November 2011

On the Australian track, Glenlogan Park Stud’s dual stakes-winning stallion Bradbury’s Luck (Redoute's Choice-Skating, by At Talaq) added a Gr1 triumph when favoured 4YO gelding Luckygray (Bradbury's Luck-Damah Lady, by Mukaddamah) notched his 4th successive win in controversial circumstances in the $1 million Gr1 Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot in Perth. Luckygray (ridden by Shaun O’Donnell for trainer Gino Poletti) charged home after suffering significant interference at the 600m to be 2nd-across-the-line by a long-neck; however jockey O’Donnell immediately protested against 1st-across–the-line 4YO entire He's Remarkable (Pentire-Axiom, by Zabeel) & its rider Kerrin McEvoy as the cause of the interference & the stewards duly ruled “the level of interference sustained by Luckygray in this incident was considerably greater than the long-neck margin between it & He’s Remarkable”. The amended placings saw Luckygray the winner from He’s Remarkable & 6YO gelding Westriver Kevydonn (Danetime-Dynique, by Dynamo). In a further dramatic twist, 4th placed Waratah’s Secret also protested against He’s Remarkable over the same incidemnt at the 600m mark; but this time stewards ruled they were “not entirely satisfied that the amount of ground lost by Waratah’s Secret in this incident was greater than the official margin (4.8-lengths) between it & He’d Remarkable”. Luckygray (a $46,000 yearling consigned by Riverslea Farm at the 2009 Magic Millions Perth Sale) now has 7 wins (also including October’s Gr3 Asian Beau Stakes over 1400m at Ascot) & 1 placing (in February’s Magic Millions Perth Trophy over 1400m at Ascot) from 9 starts for $876,125 earnings. Gr2-Winner Rothesay Joins Glenlogan Park Roster

Friday, 7th January 2011

Gr2-winning 4YO stallion Rothesay (Fastnet Rock-Schiaparelli, by Woodman) has joined the roster at leading Queensland stud farm Glenlogan Park & will stand his 1st season at a $12,100 service fee. Rothesay (a horse trainer Gerald Ryan declared as “potentially the best he has ever trained”) was passed-in for $140,000 as a yearling at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney & subsequently recorded 4 wins (including 2010’s Gr2 Queensland Guineas over 1600m at Eagle Farm & Gr3 Lord Mayor's Cup over 1615m at Doomben) & 3 placings (including 2010’s Gr2 Sebring Sprint over 1400m at Rosehill & Listed Gosford Guineas over 1200m) from 9 starts. Glenlogan principal Jon Haseler declared: “Rothesay, at the fee we will be able to offer him, is one of those stallions that becomes available to breeders only very, very rarely. A true Gr1 quality sprinter-miler, by a sire that is taking all before him & out of a proven stallion-producing female family makes Rothesay an exceptionally attractive prospect. Our goal at Glenlogan Park is to present the industry with sires that are capable of reaching the very top of the national stallions’ tables, offer great commercial appeal to buyers throughout Australia & have all the ingredients required to upgrade mares’ pedigrees & produce racehorses of the highest calibre. In Rothesay, I am sure that objective has been well & truly achieved!” And Glenlogan manager Steve Morley enthused: “I truly can’t wait for breeders to lay eyes on this horse. The moment he walks out of the box his class & presence is almost overwhelming. He has terrific bone, great substance, wonderful depth, incredible muscle mass & is a fantastic mover. There are plenty of very good form judges who consider Rothesay to be the best son of Fastnet Rock that we have seen so far – and I certainly agree with them. . . . . Breeders will need to look long & hard next season to try & find a stallion that will match his commercial appeal or potential for return on their investment and, in fact, I don’t think they will find one.”
