NSW Punter Slams Bet Ban

Friday, 2nd September 2005

Australia's "biggest punter Sean Bartholomew has warned the NSW racing industry is set to lose millions of dollars in turnover from his business after Racing NSW axed one of his favourite betting options," reported The Daily Telegraph. Bartholomew was "shocked when told by bookmaker Robbie Waterhouse that he could no longer back the field to beat the favourite". The leviathan punter admitted he had made a "skinny profit" using the system over the past 12 months & was turning over up to $100,000 each day. Bartholomew said it was "an outrageous move" which has left him "dumbfounded on the eve of the biggest & busiest time of the racing year". He declared: "I'm very disappointed & this is a huge backward step for NSW racing. They're only going to be losing turnover & they wonder why people are turning to betting exchanges. They've apparently stopped this betting option because it is the same as the Betfair product. But I would have thought, if anything, Racing NSW would be out there trying to compete with the bettign exchanges & offering punters something similar they can bet on."
