Ferocity Wins Ascot Vale Stakes

Monday, 5th September 2005

Ill-fated Oaklands Stud stallion Lion Hunter (Danehill-Pure Of Heart, by Godswalk) added a major group success when his colt Ferocity (Lion Hunter-Chiara, by Last Tycoon) won the $500,000 Gr2 Ascot Vale Stakes (1200m) for 3YOs at Flemington. Ferocity (ridden by Steven Arnold for trainer Danny O'Brien) defeated the filly Jadescent (Green Perfume-China Girl, by Danehill) & fellow colt Undoubtedly (Redoute's Choice-Kiss A Halo, by Don't Say Halo). Ferocity (passed-in for $75,000 at the 2004 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale) now has 3 wins (also including the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic over 1200m at Morphettville in February) & 3 placings in 8 starts for $649,500 prize-money. His sire Lion Hunter (bred by Arrowfield Stud) sired 6 crops totalling 692 foals in Queensland before dying in 2003; his stakes-winners include dual Gr1-winning 2YO Lovely Jubly.
