Gr1 Oaks Mare Zagalia Retired To Stud

John Singleton told The Daily Telegraph his former Gr1 Queensland Oaks winner Zagalia (Zabeel-Snow Quill, by Bluebird) has been retired to stud. Singleton confirmed Zagalia "suffered a leg injury in trackwork & after conferring with trainer Clarry Conners, the decision was made to retired the 6YO mare to stud". Zagalia (a $250,000 yearling at the 2001 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) recorded 2 wins & 3 placings (plus 4th in 2003 Gr1 Cox Plate & 5th in that year's Gr1 Melbourne Cup) in 23 starts for $584,750 prize-money. She "is now likely to be sent to boom Coolmore stallion Encosta de Lago this spring".
