Nevis Wins Chelmsford Stakes

Monday, 5th September 2005

Coolmore's former shuttler & ill-fated multiple champion sire Danehill (Danzig-Razyana, by His Majesty) added another group success when Gerry Harvey's 4YO mare Nevis (Danehill-Tartan Tights, by Tights) made it 3-in-a-row with a half-neck victory in the $175,000 weight-for-age Gr2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick in Sydney. Nevis (ridden by Hugh Bowman for trainer David Payne) defeated 5YO gelding Sir Dex (Dexter-Amwaj, by Marscay) with a further nose to 6YO entire Natural Blitz (Dehere-Mohave Dancer, by Zabeel). Nevis now has 5 wins (also including the Listed Toy Show Quality over 1400m at Randwick on August 20) & 3 placings in 11 starts for $356,170 prize-money.
