Langfuhr Adds US Gr3 Winner

Tuesday, 6th September 2005

In the US, 13-year-old triple Gr1-winning former Vinery shuttler Langfuhr (Danzig-Sweet Briar Too, by Briartic) added another group winner when Ontario-bred 3YO gelding Jambalaya (Langfuhr-Muskrat Suzie, by Vice Regent) made it 4-in-succession by winning the Gr3 Saranac Stakes (9.5 furlongs on turf) at Saratoga, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Jambalaya (ridden by Jono Jones for owner-trainer Catherine Day Phillips) defeated Silver Whistle (by Alphabet Soup) & Woodlander (by Forestry); he now has 4 wins in 7 starts (undefeated since he switched to turf) & took his earnings to US$386,779. At his previous start, Jambalaya (a US$2,500 bargain at the 2003 Keeneland September Sale) had scored an 8-lengths victory in Canada's Breeders Stakes (3rd leg of the Canadian 3YO Triple Crown).
