Doncaster Day-1: $187,000 Danehill Dancer Colt
Agent John Warren (buying on behalf of Highclere Racing syndicate) paid 72,000 guineas (A$187,000) for a Danehill Dancer colt reported racingpost.co.uk. The colt (consigned via Barton Stud) had been "bought-in for 26,000 guineas (A$67,000) as a foal at UK Tattersalls" by his breeder Charlie Wyatt (who runs Dukes Stud at Ashley near Newmarket) who noted: "I thought he was going to be a nicer yearling & couldn't let him go for 26,000 guineas as a foal." Last night's buyer John Warren commented: "He was a nice big strong colt. Being by a top stallion was part of his attraction & you don't mind paying a bit more if they are by a proven sire."
