Doncaster Day-1: $312,000 Fraam Filly

Wednesday, 7th September 2005

Breeze-up specialist Con Marnane out-bid trainers Jamie Osborne & Mark Johnston to pay top price of 120,000 guineas (A$312,000) for a Fraam half-sister to this season's unbeaten 2YO filly Flashy Wings during the opening session overnight at the Doncaster Bloodstock St Leger Sale (Britain's 1st yearling sale of 2005) reported racingpost.co.uk. Marnane (who also bought 2 yearlings at Germany's Baden-Baden auction last weekend) indicated the filly (consigned by Rathmore Stud) is likely to be re-offered next year at a 2YO-in-training sale. The price equalled the previous sale record for a filly.
