HK Breeders Buy 10% Of Rakti

Wednesday, 7th September 2005

The Hong Kong Breeders Club has purchased a 10% stake in 6-time Gr1-winning 6YO stallion Rakti (Polish Precedent-Ragera, by Rainbow Quest) who is scheduled to stand his 1st season at Ireland's Huma Park Stud in 2006, reported thoroughbredinternet.com. Announcing the purchase, HKBC manager John McGrath said: "We have firm plans to support Rakti in Ireland & Wakefield Stakes winner Danroad at Hedgeholme Stud in England next year as well." Rakti has had 2 starts this season in the UK: in May he demolished his rivals by 5-lengths in the Gr1 Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes (8 furlongs) at Newbury with a front-running display that shattered the course record by over a second; & in June he finished runner-up in the Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes (8 furlongs) on the opening day of the Royal Ascot carnival at York. Overall Rakti has 11 wins (also including the Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, Gr1 Champion Stakes & Gr1 Derby Italiano) in 21 starts for over £1.8m (A$4.3m) earnings.
