Doncaster Day-2: $364,000 Grand Lodge Filly

Friday, 9th September 2005

Late on Day-2, London agent Andy Smith (buying on behalf of Team Havana) had out-bid John O'Byrne to set a new record for the Doncaster St Leger yearling sale when he paid 140,000 guineas (A$364,000) for a Grand Lodge filly, reported racingpost.co.uk. The filly (consigned by Tim Hyde's County Tipperary-based Camas Park Stud) is a sister to Charles Egerton's exciting juvenile colt Humungus. Smith commented: "Her brother looks to be very useful & she was a very athletic filly, who will stay in training in England. Team Havana is a partnership & we have several different trainers; we'd probably decide on where she will go when we know what yearlings we have."
