Dubai World Cup Increases Prizes

The Dubai Racing Club yesterday announced major increases in prize-money for the 2006 Dubai World Cup meeting, further underlining it as the world's richest day of horse racing & making the Dubai Duty Free (1777m) & Dubai Sheema Classic (2400m) the world's richest turf races. Both the Gr1 Dubai Duty Free & Gr1 Dubai Sheema Classic (the 2 turf races run on Dubai World Cup day) will now be worth US$5 million (each with a US$3 million 1st prize). And the 2006 Dubai World Cup meeting (at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse on Saturday March 25) is now worth US$21.25 million. Australian star Elvstroem won the 2005 Gr1 Dubai Duty Free.
