US Black-Type Guidelines Revised For 2006
In the US, "in order to maintain standards of integrity for black-type in North America, the North American members of the Society Of International Thoroughbred Auctioneers approved 2 changes to guidelines for black-type races that were recommended by their counterparts on the International Cataloging Standards Committee," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Beginning in 2006, races that contain "preference clauses based on criteria other than the quality of the horses in a race" will be considered restricted events & "all entries in a race must be eligible for the purse money used to determine the minimum purse value for black-type status or listed races". The minimum purse value for black-type will remain at US$40,000 with all money distributed the day of the race; but races that include "incentives that could boost the purse to US$40,000 would not be eligible".
