Aust Foal Crop Increase

Monday, 12th September 2005

Australian foal numbers "are set to increase for the 1st time in several years due to an extra 900 coverings in 2004, according to Keeper Of The Stud Book Michael Ford," reported thoroughbredinternet.com. Ford said "at least a further 700 foals would be born in 2005 as a result of the extra activity, bringing anticipated foal numbers to 18,000". Ford summed up: "A more optimistic outlook has initiated the increase in services, together with innovative deals by studs to attract mare owners. This may indicate a turn-around from the decline in the production of foals."
