Luas Line Wins US Gr1 Garden City

Monday, 12th September 2005

Former Coolmore shuttler & ill-fated multiple champion sire Danehill (Danzig-Razyana, by His Majesty) also added a US Gr1 success to his sensational weekend when Irish-bred filly Luas Line (Danehill-Streetcar, by In The Wings) "made her 2nd visit to the US a winning one" with victory in the US$300,000 Gr1 Garden City Breeders' Cup Handicap (9 furlongs on turf) for 3YO fillies at Belmont Park, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Luas Line (ridden by John Velazquez for trainer David Wachman) moved to the lead "mid-stretch, scattering a flock of errant geese in the process," to defeat French raider Asi Siempre (El Prado-Siempre Asi, by Silver Hawk) & multiple stakes-winner My Typhoon (Giant's Causeway-Urban Sea, by Miswaki). Luas Line (who finished 3rd in the Gr1 Irish 1000 Guineas at The Curragh on May 22) now has 4 wins from 10 starts (8 of them in England & Ireland) & earned US$419,535.
