NZ Owners Urge Election Vote

Monday, 12th September 2005

The NZ Thoroughbred Racehorse Owners' Federation is urging members to vote for National/New Zealand First Government in next weekend's (September 17) general election. Owners' Federation secretary Les Lowrie declared: "If we don't get a change of Government this time, our industry will go down the gurglar." Lowrie said "it is clear that racing stake holders & all of their supporters will get the best deal from a National-led Government, which has agreed to fix the inequity in the gaming tax levels which sees racing pay nearly 7 times more duty per dollar wagered than casinos".
