Ghostzapper US$200,000 Stud Fee

Meanwhile reigning US Horse-Of-The-Year & 5YO stallion Ghostzapper (Awesome Again-Baby Zip, by Relaunch) will stand his 1st season for US$200,000 at Kentucky's Adena Springs Farm, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. In comparison: 2000 Gr1 Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus stood his 1st season for US$150,000 at Ashford Stud; multiple Gr1 winner Giant's Causeway stood his 1st season for US$127,000 at Ashford; & multiple Gr1 winners Empire Maker, Mineshaft & Smarty Jones all stood for US$100,000 in their initial seasons. The Frank Stronach home-bred Ghostzapper retired in June with 9 wins from 11 starts & US$3,446,120 earnings; he was undefeated in 2004, with victories in the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic (10 furlongs) at Lone Star Park in a track-record 1min 59.02sec, plus the Gr1 Woodward Stakes at Belmont Park, Gr2 Tom Fool Handicap at Belmont & Gr3 Philip Iselin Breeders' Cup Handicap at Monmouth Park. In 2003 he defeated older horses in the Gr1 Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont. Ghostzapper (a half-brother to Gr1 winner & freshman sire City Zip) will join his sire Awesome Again (who stood the 2005 season at US$125,000) on the Adena Springs roster.
