Keeneland Day-1: US$2.7m Kingmambo Filly

Tuesday, 13th September 2005

John Rasmussen (signing the ticket for Charlotte Weber's Live Oak Stud) paid US$2.7 million for a Kingmambo filly who is the 2nd foal out of champion Escena, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. It tied the 4th all-time price for a filly at the Keeneland September yearling sale. Rasmussen said Weber purchased her as a racing prospect, but acknowledged she already is a tremendous broodmare prospect: "Obviously on paper she's very valuable, but we want her to prove her worth on the racetrack. We'll bring her to Florida & let her show us what she can do before deciding on a trainer." The filly (bred in Kentucky by Guy & Diane Snowden) was consigned by Denali Stud as agent for Falls Creek Farm.
