Keeneland Day-1: US$3.5m Storm Cat Colt

Tuesday, 13th September 2005

John Ferguson (buying for Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum) paid US$3.5 million for a Storm Cat colt out of champion Serena's Song during this morning's (Australian time) Day-1 action at the 14-session Keeneland September Yearling Sale (5,110-lots & the world's biggest yearling sale) in Kentucky, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. The colt (consigned by Craig & Holly Bandoroff's Denali Stud as agent for Bob & Beverly Lewis) is a full brother to Gr2 winner Grand Reward & Gr1 winner Sophisticat. Ferguson summed up: "Obviously it's an exceptional pedigree. He's got a lot of things going for him & he's an athletic horse to boot. He's a horse that could go either way (racing either in America or Europe)."
