Melb Cup 4: Viz Vitae NZ Win

Tuesday, 13th September 2005

The 5YO Kiwi galloper Viz Vitae (Shinko King-Tristena) "confirmed plans for a tilt at the $5 million Gr1 Melbourne Cup with his easy weekend win over 2100m at Ellerslie," reported NZ Thoroughbred Marketing. Trainer Murray Baker said nothing short of a win had been sufficient to warrant a trip to Melbourne: "He's nominated for the Caulfield & Melbourne Cups & only has 49.5kg, but he's still got to qualify for those races." Viz Vitae has put together a strong record in staying races & now boasts 8 wins & 7 placings from 25 starts. Baker summed up: "He will stay all day. His dam is a Sir Tristram mare who won 5 races."
