Wednesday, 14th September 2005

Sheikh Mohammed also paid US$6.3m for a Storm Cat colt out of multiple Gr1-winning A.P.Indy mare Secret Status "after a protracted bidding battle with bloodstock agent Demi O'Byrne (acting for Coolmore) reported thoroughbredtimes.com. The colt (consigned by William Farish's Lane's End as agent) is the 2nd foal out of 2000 Gr1 Kentucky Oaks & Gr1 Mother Goose Stakes winner Secret Status. John Ferguson (Sheikh Mohammed's bloodstock advisor) said the colt's pedigree & physicial appearance were impressive, noting: "He's a very athletic horse. Obviously Storm Cat has been a phenomenal stallion. And the mare was a very special racehorse." Sheikh Mohammed added: "The way he moved, the way his body is: there was something in his eyes that made me really want him." And Farish commented: "We thought he was a top colt & he sold very well today, but you never dream about a price like that. He's a big Storm Cat, very muscular, with good size. And it's a fabulous mare. We're thrilled."
