Miss Potential Wins NZ Gr1 Stoney Bridge Stakes
In New Zealand, Independent Stallions Victoria sire Dolphin Street (Bluebird-Or Vision, by Irish River) added a Gr1 triumph when Australian-bred 7YO mare Miss Potential (Dolphin Street-Richfield Rose, by Crested Wave) scored a front-running 2.5-lengths victory in the NZ$150,000 weight-for-age Gr1 Stoney Bridge Stakes (1600m) at Hastings. Miss Potential (ridden by Reese Jones for owner-trainer Bill Borrie) defeated 8YO gelding Irish River (Kenfair-Sterling Lea) & 4YO gelding Magnetism (Marju-Calceolaria). Miss Potential (passed in for NZ$21,000 as a yearling at the 2000 NZ Bloodstock Select Fillies Sale) now has 3 Gr1 wins (also including the 2003 NZ Gr1 Mudgway Partsworld Stakes at Hastings & Australia's 2004 Gr1 Nestle Peters Classic at Flemington in Melbourne); overall she has recorded 8 wins & more than NZ$1.1 million prize-money. She ran 2nd in this race last year.
