Perlin Wins Gr1 Underwood Stakes

In Australia, Darley stallion Carnegie (Sadler's Wells-Detroit, by Riverman) recorded a Gr1 success when 6YO gelding Perlin (Carnegie-Midnight Madam, by Kaapstad) led all-the-way to win the $350,000 weight-for-age Gr1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield in Melbourne. Perlin (ridden by Dan Nikolic for trainer Graeme Rogerson) defeated 5YO gelidng Our Smoking Joe (Encosta De Lago-Dalzing, by Blazing Sword) & 4YO Kiwi mare She's Justa Tad (Istidaad-Infinity, by Markella). Perlin (a $200,000 buy at the 2001 NZ Bloodstock Ready-To-Run Sale) now has 8 wins (also including the Gr1 Doomben Cup over 2200m in Brisbane on May 28) & 2 placings in 14 starts for $814,560 prize-money.
