Our Egyptian Raine Retired

Tuesday, 20th September 2005

In other news reported by racenet.com.au, high profile Desert Sun racemare Our Egyptian Raine (Desert Sun-Egyptian Queen, by Karioi Lad) has been immediately retired to stud. Well supported to win last Saturday's Gr1 Dubai Racing Club Cup at Caulfield, the 7YO mare appeared to break down and was dismounted before the finishing post by apprentice Blake Shinn. Her Randwick trainer Grahame Begg said: "She's fine, there's nothing wrong with her. I've had three different vets check over her yesterday and they didn't find anything wrong with her." Our Egyptian Raine retires with 10 wins & 20 placings from 48 starts for prizemoney of $1,360,700. Her best performance was a win in the Gr1 Railway Stakes in New Zealand, however her ultra-consistency saw her place in Gr1 company on a further 10 occasions.
