Keeneland Day 8: Prices Remain Buoyant

Prices remained strong during Tuesday's session as the second half of selling began at Keeneland's record-breaking September Yearling Sale. "The middle market is strong and doing well," said director of sales Geoffrey Russell, pointing to a 23.3 percent increase in the median on Tuesday. "We continue to be encouraged by the fact that we see new people arriving all the time." On Tuesday 238 horses changed hands for US$12,917,500, at an average of US$45,645 & a median of US$37,000. During the corresponding session last year, 276 horses sold for US$11,686,700, at an average of US$42,343 and a median of US$30,000.
