Keeneland Day 9: Double Digit Increases

Friday, 23rd September 2005

Wednesday's session of Keeneland's September Yearling Sale closed with double-digit increases in average and median for the day. While the big priced horses naturally drew the spotlight on Days 1 & 2 in particular, Keeneland's director of sales Geoffrey Russell is thrilled with the depth at the sale: "The middle market is alive and well at Keeneland in September," he said, following the sale of 295 horses for US$10,642,900 on Wednesday. The day's average, US$36,078, was up 25.4% from a year ago and the median, US$27,000, was up 17.4%. In the ninth session last year, 286 horses brought US$8,230,700, an average of US$28,779 and a median of US$23,000.
