Pico Central Retired To Padua

Former Brazilian Horse-Of-The-Year & triple US Gr1-winning 6YO stallion Pico Central (Spend A Buck-Sheila Purple, by Purple Mountain) has been retired to due to "inflammation in the left carpal sheath" (instead of heading to the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Sprint) & will stand at Satish Sanan's Padua Stables in Florida next season for US$10,000 "after Padua & Robert Clay's Three Chimneys purchased a 50% interest from Gary Tanaka" reported bloodhorse.com. Last year Pico Central won the Gr1 Carter Handicap, Gr1 Vosburgh Stakes & Gr1 Metropolitan Handicap; overall he recorded 9 wins (also including 2 Gr1 victories in Brazil, plus the US Gr2 San Carlos Handicap) in 17 starts for US$1,283,145 earnings.
