Monday, 26th September 2005

Unbeaten favourite Shikoba (Chief Bearhart-Summary, by Tierce) made it 2 successive victories by winning the NZ$30,000 Listed NZ Bloodstock Canterbury Belle Stakes (1200m) for 3YO fillies at Riccarton Park. Shikoba (ridden by Michael Walker for trainer Mark Walker) defeated Mystical (My Halo-Miami) & Smitten Kitten (Volksraad-Vanderbilt). Shikoba (who also scored impressively on debut at Riccarton on September 9) was passed-in as a yearling for NZ$30,000 at the 2004 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka. This race was the 1st leg of the 2005-06 season NZ Bloodstock Southern Filly-Of-The-Year series.
