Goffs Day-1: $528,000 Galileo Filly

Tuesday, 27th September 2005

French agent Herve Barjot (buying on behalf of Pegasus Farms) "went to extraordinary lengths to conceal his identity" when paying €330,000 (A$528,000) for a Galileo filly (out of Law Society mare Ardmelody) reported racingpost.co.uk. Barjot "knelt down on the floor immediately behind spotter James Griffin & whispered his bids" for the filly (consigned from Grangemore Stud) who is a half-sister to Gr1 St Leger & Gr1 Grand Prix de Paris winner Scorpion. Barjot explained: "You never know who might see you! Anyway this is a beautiful filly & she has a good residual value."
