Tuesday, 27th September 2005

Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum's Shadwell Estates out-bid trainer Charlie Egerton & paid the Day-1 top price of €550,000 (A$880,000) for a colt by Alhaarth at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale, which began overnight at Kill in Ireland's County Kildare reported racingpost.co.uk. The colt (offered by Seamus Burns's Lodge Park Stud) is out of Green Desert mare Alluring Park (a sister to Shinko Forest & "the next dam was Park Express, who carried the colours of Burns's father Paddy to victory in the Gr1 Irish Champion Stakes & Gr1 Nassau Stakes as well as the Lancashire Oaks"). Sheikh Hamdan commented: "I thought this colt was one of the best looking horses in the sale."
