Azamour To Gilltown Stud

Meanwhile The Aga Khan announced his 4-time Gr1-winning 4YO stallion Azamour (Night Shift-Asmara, by Lear Fan) "will stand at Ireland's Gilltown Stud this season," reported thoroughbredinternet.com. Azamour was a Group winner as a 2YO, 3YO & 4YO, with Gr1 triumphs in 2004 in England's St James's Palace Stakes & Irish Champion Stakes & this year in both England's King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes plus the Prince Of Wales's Stakes. Gilltown manager Pat Downes commented: "Azamour is an outstanding racehorse with immense physical presence, who has won at the highest level over 8 furlongs, 10 furlongs & 12 furlongs. He will be a wonderful addition to our stallion roster." Azamour (trained by John Oxx) "is scheduled to have his final start in the US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf at Belmont Park on October 29".
