Court Stops Hemings Name For US Filly
Wednesday Odd Spot: US Judge Karl Forester "has dismissed a lawsuit by thoroughbred owner Garrett Redmond against the US Jockey Club & Kentucky Horse Racing Authority seeking the right to name a filly after Sally Hemings, the slave reputed to be former US President Thomas Jefferson's mistress," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Redmond had argued The Jockey Club's denial violated his constitutional rights.
