Goffs Day-3: $1.52m Galileo Colt
In the sale ring overnight, Coolmore's John Magnier out-bid Matt Mitchell (acting for a US client) & paid the Day-3 top price of €950,000 (A$1.52m) for a Galileo colt (out of Darshaan mare Tadkiyra) at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale in Ireland, reported racingpost.co.uk. The colt (consigned from Denis Brosnan's Croom House Stud in County Limerick) "comes from a family packed with black-type": he is a half-brother to Magnier's Gr1 Phoenix Stakes & Gr1 Queen Mary winner Damson; & he is also related to this year's Gr1 1000 Guineas winner Virginia Waters. Demi O'Byrne (signing the docket for Magnier) commented: "This colt is very special & I think he was probably the best horse in the sale. Also the sister was very good."
