Monday, 3rd April 2006

The University Of Florida confirmed "it is analysing a suspected 4th case of Mare Reproductive Loss Syndrome from a 2nd farm in Alachua County near Ocala & authorities suspect there are further unreported cases," noted thoroughbredinternet.com. The region presently has "large numbers of Eastern tent caterpillars, the insect responsible for the Kentucky MRLS epidemic 5 years ago during which an estimated 2,000 early-term pregnancies were lost & nearly 550 late-term abortions & foal casualties occurred". The Florida Thoroughbred Breeders & Owners Association will host an information meeting on April 6 & is recommending all abortions & foal deaths are investigated".
