Colic Flattens Nadeem

Monday, 3rd April 2006

Meanwhile recent Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes-winning 2YO colt Nadeem (Redoute's Choice-Candide, by Sound Reason) "faces an uncertain future after battling a severe attack of colic complicated by surgery to a cannon bone," reported thoroughbredinternet.com. Trainer David Hayes confirmed: "Nadeem was taken out of the Gr1 Golden Slipper (next Saturday) because of a leg injury which required surgery. That procedure was a success, but now the colt has come down with colic & needs another operation. We have our fingers crossed he can pull through." Nadeem (a $700,000 yearling at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney, who is raced by Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Stud) also won the Gr3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) at Flemington in November.
