Commands 3YO Potential HK Star

Monday, 3rd April 2006

In Hong Kong, Woodlands Stud sire Commands (Danehill-Cotehele House, by My Swanee) grabbed attention as his "exciting 3YO gelding Royal Delight (Commands-Conquered, by Star Watch) made an impressive winning debut at Sha Tin, something that would come as no surprise to Australian race-goers, as we have already seen what this fellow can do after watching him win his 1st 3 starts in Sydney as War Of The Worlds," noted racenet.com.au. When trained by Rick Worthington (before his sale to Asia), War Of The Worlds (originally a $135,000 yearling at the 2004 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) won his only 3 starts last August, September & October (the last in Listed Sir Brian Crowley Stakes from subsequent Gr2 winner Jet Spur). Sold for a reported $1 million ("on the advice of jockey Shane Dye" reported The Sydney Morning Herald) & now with Danny Shum, the renamed Royal Delight "bolted in on his HK debut, swooping home from the rear to win the Class 2 event by nearly 3-lengths in the slick time of 1min 8:8sec; he zoomed past Kindacross (a Gr1 winner in NZ before switching to HK) going on to win with ears pricked." Royal Delight is raced by prominent owner Peter Law Kin-sang "who enjoyed much success with another ex-Australian horse in Grand Delight" (champion HK sprinter of 2003). An excited Law revealed: "I'm hopeful he measures up to the Gr1 HK International Mile in December."
