Virage De Fortune May Target Japan
Part-owner James Bester revealed top 3YO filly Virage De Fortune (Anabaa-Virage, by Kenmare) may target Japan's Gr1 Sprinters Stakes (Japanese leg of the Global Sprint Challenge on October 1 at Nakayama) after a tilt at the 3 Gr1 sprints during June's Brisbane Winter Carnival. Bester told thoroughbredinternet.com: "The Japanese race in October is at the back of our minds & could be a possibility, but we have all the time in the world; as long as she is sound, she will remain in work. We were invited & indeed encouraged to take her to Royal Ascot for their big sprints, but we feel she is better suited in Brisbane at this point in her career, with better prize-money on offer & the circular track she prefers." Virage De Fortune has 8 wins (including both the Gr1 Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley in February & last season's Gr1 QTC Sires' Produce Stakes in Brisbane) from 12 starts for $833,600 earnings. Bester confirmed: "She's having more of a freshen-up than a spell now & will be aimed toward the 3 Gr1 sprints in Brisbane."
