Texas 2YOs: US$240,000 Forestry Colt

Thursday, 6th April 2006

Dallas-based Virginia Skelton paid US$240,000 for the highest-priced colt: a son of Forestry (out of La Finale, by In Reality) consigned by Hoby & Layna Kight as agent, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Skelton (a retired independent oil operator who "has long been one of trainer Bubba Cascio's principal clients, while racing mostly quarter-horses") commented: "I like everything about him: the family, the sire. Bubba was getting so nervous, he leaned over & said: 'Do you know what you're doing?' And I said: 'No! It's only money.' The horse will go wherever Bubba goes. I like to race here in Texas, but they get too good & they have to go where the money is."
