Arlingtonboulevard Wins NZ Gr1 Breeders' Stakes

Monday, 10th April 2006

In New Zealand, Coolmore shuttler Spinning World (Nureyev-Imperfect Circle, by Riverman) added a Gr1 triumph amid major controversy when 4YO mare Arlingtonboulevard (Spinning World-Golden Bridge, by Gold Brose) was 2nd across-the-line but then awarded the race on protest (after a lengthy 40-minutes stewards' inquiry) in the NZ$120,000 weight-for-age Gr1 NZ Bloodstock Breeders' Stakes (1600m) for fillies & mares at Te Aroha. Arlingtonboulevard (ridden by Jason Waddell for trainer Mark Walker) defeated 5YO mare Salsa (O'Reilly-Ungaro, by Centaine) & 1st-past-the-post fellow 4YO mare Viennetta (Pins-Bali Sugar, by Christmas Tree). Consistent Arlingtonboulevard has finished unplaced just once in her last 9 outings.
