Miss Finland Wins Gr1 Golden Slipper

Monday, 10th April 2006

Boom Arrowfield Stud stallion Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) continued his extraordinary domination of Australia's major juvenile events over recent seasons when his daughter Miss Finland (Redoute's Choice-Forest Pearl, by Woodman) appreciated the dry track & blitzed her rivals by 4.5-lengths in the world's richest 2YO race, the $3 million Gr1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney. Miss Finland (ridden by Craig Williams for trainer David Hayes) defeated late-entry fellow filly Pure Energy (Mossman-Madam Curie, by Bletchingly) & the colt Churchill Downs (Danehill-Silken Whisper, by Diesis). Miss Finland (a $450,000 yearling at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 3 wins (also including the Listed Talindert Stakes over 1100m at Flemington in January) & a runner-up (in the Gr1 Blue Diamond over 1200m at Caulfield on February 25) from 5 starts for $2,092,675 earnings.
