Invasor Wins Uruguay 2005 Horse-Of-Year

In Uruguay, Shadwell Stable's Argentine-bred Invasor (Candy Stripes-Quendom, by Interprete) has been named 2005 Horse-Of-The-Year & champion 3YO male "after annexing the Triple Crown last season," reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Invasor (trained by Anibal San Martin) won all 5 of his starts at Maronas National Racetrack in Montevideo; he was then purchased by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum's Shadwell Stable & sent to Dubai, where he finished 4th in the Gr2 United Arab Emirates Derby on March 25 at Nad al Sheba. Plans now "call for Invasor to continue his racing career in the US" (where he is stabled at Belmont Park with trainer Kiaran McLaughlin). The other 2005 champions named by Uruguayan Stud Book officials were: champion 2YO male Potri Lord (by Potridoon); champion 3YO filly La Signora (by Robin des Pins); champion sprinter Argentine-bred Palatino (by Luhuk); champion miler & older horse Mistongo (by Mantle Rock); champion older mare Brazilian-bred Necessaire (by Bright Again); champion stayer The Best (by Much Better); champion sire Robin des Pins (by Nureyev); champion broodmare sire Argentine-bred Interprete (by Farnesio); & champion broodmare Dona Guapa (by Don Omar).
