Platinum Scissors Back At Stud

Tuesday, 11th April 2006

Gr1-winning stallion Platinum Scissors (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) will return to stud this season at Queensland's Plaintree Farms, reported racenet.com.au. The full brother to Redoute's Choice stood his 1st season at Arrowfield Stud in 2004 but experienced fertility difficulties; as a result, breeder Muzzafar Yaseen of Teeley Assets subsequently resumed ownership in the stallion from former part-owners Arrowfield. Yaseen sought the expertise of reproduction specialist Dr David Pascoe at Oakey Veterinary Hospital, whose specialised breeding centre at Plaintree Farms is owned by Dr Pascoe & wife Heather. Platinum Scissors "will arrive in Queensland with a large broodmare band owned by Teeley Assets & the majority of mares (covered privately in Victoria) are already safely in foal to him". Platinum Scissors recorded 5 wins from 1400-2200m (including the Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes, Gr2 Norman Robinson Stakes, Gr2 Hollindale Stakes & Gr3 Newcastle Newmarket) plus multiple group placings (including the Gr1 Doomben Cup, Gr2 Chelmsford Stakes twice, Gr2 Gloaming Stakes, Gr2 Hill Stakes & Gr3 Lord Mayors Cup) for $982,800 earnings. Platinum Scissors will stand at Plaintree Farms at $11,000.
