Vetsearch Launches $17,000 Competition

Tuesday, 11th April 2006

A national competition (with a 1st prize of $10,000) has been unfurled to celebrate outstanding achievements in Australian horse sports. As part of Vetsearch's 70th anniversary in Australia, nominations for the Vetsearch 70 Golden Years Of Australian Horse Sports are now open "to recognise the efforts & successes of horse & rider since 1936". The competition asks entrants to nominate their Golden Moment in the last 70 years in all sports, including Campdrafting, Eventing, Polo Crosse, Harness & Thoroughbred Racing, Rodeo & Show Jumping. Vetsearch director Pierre Contat says there is 1 over-riding judging criteria: "Vetsearch is a home-grown company that has been providing essential services to all Australian equine industries since 1936. So we're looking for nominations that are about Australian horses or riders competing in or for Australia. That could be anything from Makybe Diva winning her 3rd Melbourne Cup, to Gillian Rolton's gold medal performance at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, or campdrafter Lawrie Mills' 4 Warwick Gold Cups." Prizes include 1st Prize of $10,000 cash & 7 category-winning prizes of $1,000 worth of Vetsearch products. Nominations can be made from today on the Vetsearch website www.vetsearch.com.au. All people who nominate the winning Moments (chosen by a panel of experts) will go into the draw for the prizes (to be announced on August 1).
