Doncaster Day-1: $200,000 Dance Brightly Colt
Also at Doncaster overnight, agent David Redvers (acting for Whitsbury-based trainer Ralph Beckett) out-bid Lambourn-based former Swedish-based trainer Roy Kvisla & paid 77,000 guineas (A$200,000) for a colt by Mr Prospector stallion Dance Brightly (consigned by Jamie Railton). Redvers told racingpost.co.uk: "He will be trained by Ralph Beckett for Richard Pegum & did the best time of any horse during the breeze-up." The colt was purchased for US$28,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Sale in October on Railton's behalf by David Egan (whose father James owns Corduff Stud in Ireland's County Kildare). Railton added: "David has his own farm in the US & must take a lot of the credit for finding this colt. He was actually broken in over in America, which is unusual for us, but he was not bought until late October."
