Doncaster Record Average & Median

Thursday, 13th April 2006

Overall during the 2-day Doncaster Breeze-Up Sale, the cumulative gross was 4,196,300 guineas (A$10.9m) with "a record 24,256 guineas (A$63,000) average (up 5.3% on last year) & highest ever median of 20,000 guineas (A$52,000)" reported racingpost.co.uk. Doncaster managing director Henry Beeby summed up: "I am more than pleased to have beaten last year's superb figures, as we have returned to a reliable trade with buyers at every level of the market. The sale was selective at times, but that reflected the Breeze-Up work of the individuals in question & that other old cliche was as true as ever: breeze-well, sell-well. Breeze-ups are not about just turning up, but turning up & showing real potential on the track. Those that do are rewarded & we have seen many spectacular pin-hooking successes over the 2 days. The clearance rate is also worthy of comment, as 81% is a figure some Breeze-Ups (& other categories of sale for that matter) would kill for; this percentage represents a trade of real depth & substance."
