World Rankings Highlight NZ Sire Castledale
In New Zealand, this week's release of the World's Top 50 Racehorses rankings highlighted the ability of new Te Runga Stud sire & 5YO Irish-bred multiple Gr1-winner Castledale (Peintre Celebre-Louju, by Silver Hawk). The world's Number 7 galloper Borrego raced against Castledale as a juvenile in the US Gr3 Generous Stakes, with Castledale decisively winning his only 2YO start in the US. And the world's 38th-rated galloper Singletary (2004 US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf winner) was comprehensively defeated by Castledale in the 2005 Gr1 Shoemaker Mile on turf in 1min 33.17sec. At the time of his injury-enforced retirement, Castledale was rated 3rd highest horse by an international panel for the 2005 Breeders Cup Mile, ahead of outstanding performers Leroidesinameaux, Rakti, Valaxir, Dubawi & Singletary. Castledale also won the 2004 US Gr1 Santa Anita Derby on dirt & 2005 Gr2 San Francisco Breeders' Cup Mile Handicap on turf.
