Excites Wins Gr1 Inglis Sires' Produce

Tuesday, 18th April 2006

Emirates Park's 4-time Gr1-winning stallion Danewin (Danehill-Cotehele House, by My Swanee) recorded his 5th Gr1 progeny winner (& 15th stakes-winner) when lightly-raced juvenile colt Excites (Danewin-Staging, by Success Express) also caused a boil-over when he came from the tail of the field to prevail in a 3-way photo-finish to the $450,000 Gr1 Inglis Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) for 2YOs at Randwick. Excites (ridden by Zac Purton for trainer Guy Walter) won by a half-neck from the gelding Down The Wicket (Over-Golf Circuit, by Groucho) with a further short-neck to fellow gelding My Middi (Belong To Me-High Honour, by Best Western). Excites now has a win & a runner-up (last start in the Listed Baillieu Stakes over 1400m at Warwick Farm on April 2) from just 3 starts for $288,200 earnings. His dam Staging won 10 races (including the Gr2 Light Fingers Stakes & Gr2 Surround Stakes, plus 4 Gr1-placings). Meanwhile his sire Danewin's previous Gr1 winners are County Tyrone, Elegant Fashion, Toulouse Lautrec & Vitesse Dane.
