Falaise Wins Hall Mark Stakes

Tuesday, 18th April 2006

Ill-fated former Woodlands Stud shuttler Grand Lodge (Chief's Crown-La Papagena, by Habitat) added a black-type success when favoured 3YO gelding Falaise (Grand Lodge-Perle, by Night Shift) came from the rear of the field to defeat his older rivals with a 1-length victory in yesterday's $100,000 Listed Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. Falaise (ridden by Darren Beadman for trainer John Hawkes) defeated 4YO gelded stable-mate Picket Fence (Commands-Mopani, by Jon George) & 5YO gelding Catchadane (Danewin-Kilmarle, by Bletchingly). Woodlands Stud home-bred Falaise now has 4 wins & a runner-up (last start in the Listed Darby Munro Stakes over 1300m at Rosehill on April 1) from 7 starts for $226,950 prize-money.
