Fooram Wins Chairman's Handicap

Tuesday, 18th April 2006

The 5YO gelding Fooram (Maroof-Sinjani, by Sir Tristram) made it successive stakes victories & confirmed his early favouritism for next weekend's Gr1 Sydney Cup when he stormed home from the rear of the field to add a 1.5-lengths win in the $200,000 Gr2 Chairman's Handicap (2600m) at Randwick. Fooram (ridden by Darren Beadman for trainer John O'Shea) defeated fellow 5YO gelding Three Chimneys (Generous-Star On Ice, by Half Iced) & 4YO rig Cross Bar (Cape Cross-Lady Leica, by Sir Tristram). Fooram (a NZ$64,000 yearling at the 2002 NZ Bloodstock Select Colts Sale) now has 6 wins (also including last start's Listed N.E.Manion Cup over 2400m at Rosehill on April 1) & 5 placings in 20 starts for $297,635 earnings.
