Inglis Easter Day-1: $1m Giant's Causeway Colt

Wednesday, 19th April 2006

South African trainer Charles Laird paid $1 million for a Giant's Causeway colt (the 3rd foal from unraced Danehill mare Wild Berries) consigned by Coolmore Stud as agent. Wild Berries is a 3/4 sister to Finger Of Light (dam of Far Hope) & half-sister to Rose Of Tralee (dam of current dual Gr1-winning 3YO filly Serenade Rose), Lady Shipley, Ellie Ardensky (dam of Pole Star), Circus Act (dam of Brave Cut & Jellaby Askhir). Laird (an under-bidder on the $2 million Redoute's Choice-Urge To Merge colt) has not been to Newmarket since 1992 & commented: "This is my 1st Easter trip for some time. I've teamed up with a serious owner who already has about 80 horses for a new venture together. Easter has always been the greatest sale to come to: but you have to have the finance."
